On July 18, 2025, the UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia, Ms. Françoise Jacob, visited the Caucasus Wildlife Refuge (CWR) of the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC).
The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the organization’s biodiversity conservation programs in the lead-up to the COP17 Biodiversity Conference, which will take place in Armenia from October 18 to 30, 2026.
During the visit, Ms. Jacob, accompanied by FPWC Director Ruben Khachatryan and staff, toured the territory of the Caucasus Wildlife Refuge, learned about FPWC’s activities, visited tree nurseries established under the foundation’s reforestation initiatives, became familiar with innovative methods for cultivating wild fruit tree saplings, and also visited the Wildlife Rescue Center.
Ms. Françoise Jacob was impressed by the organization’s work, noting that FPWC’s large-scale and dedicated efforts in biodiversity conservation serve as an important example for the region. She also highlighted that such initiatives form a vital foundation for the preparatory process of the COP17 Biodiversity Conference.
